Getting Active Before You Get Active

Summer is right around the corner. That means longer days, going on vacation, and being more active outdoors. Are you feeling the pressure to get in shape? Are you going to do anything differently to prepare? If so, what? If not, what about your current routine has you ready?

I definitely feel the pressure to get in shape for the summer. I will be adding more workout days to my week along with different practices like yoga and pilates.

Do you do both pilates and Yoga in the same week? Are they helpful to do together?

When you do pilates do you go to a class or have a tape? I've always wanted to try Yoga...they say it's very relaxing? How often do you do these

i do pilates too! and recently started yoga as well. i find that doing either workout after an intense run really helps to relax, strengthen and lengthen my muscles.

I have done both pilates (with a reformer) and Yoga (Bikram specifically) and have done both in a class. The tape wouldn't be enough to motivate me. I need people around me. I personally like Bikram better because it's hard and relaxing at the same time.  However, the reformer will definitely tone you if you do it consistently.  I have never done both in the same week. Bikram can be really intense and I didn't feel like I needed to add another class on top of it. However, if you are doing a lighter yoga you might want to switch things up a pilates class.
